Projects: Walkinstown Association Self Advocacy Project

The Walkinstown Association Self Advocacy Project commenced in November 2005. Inclusion Ireland developed and delivered a course specific to the establishment of an advocacy programme for the Walkinstown Association in relation to self advocacy. Mr. Ray Murray was employed by Inclusion Ireland to deliver the course to two groups of 21 service users and a number of staff within the association.

Outcomes to date:

  1. Provided service users with an opportunity to explore the issues around advocacy
  2. Provided service users with an opportunity to talk with people whose lives have been affected by the process
  3. A Training programme was devised for staff and service users
  4. The establishment of a self advocacy group within the Walkinstown Association
