Inclusion Ireland calls for government action on the supply of housing and independent living supports for people with intellectual disabilities.
People with intellectual disabilities, as a group, have largely been removed from the general housing market, both in private renting and in social housing.
They face some of the same barriers as everyone else in society in attempting to access affordable housing amidst an ongoing housing crisis.
However, there are extra barriers such as the absence of available support services, the lack of accessible houses and availability of accessible information,
and the extra costs associated with having a disability.
